SALT History

SALT Foundation is a Netherlands based International NGO that was founded in the mid eighties with the goal of strengthening the Christian churches of Mesopotamia. Since 1991 Salt has been active in Iraq and Kurdistan, partnering with many organizations, sponsoring many church related activities and ministering to other needs of individuals within the churches as well. Salt became nationally established on April 2003 when it became legally possible to become registered as an International NGO.

Since 2005 Salt has established different centres throughout the country and in 2007 Salt opened an office in Dohuk to work with Internally Displaced Persons (IDP’s) in particular. Salt works to help Christians in Iraq; and to some extend it also support Iraqi Christians in other countries such as Lebanon and Turkey.
